Carbonate buffer has a concentration of 0.5M and a pH at 10.0. The pH is determined by the ratio of acid to salt. Carbonate buffering system is important in different cellular processes such as its use to maintain the pH level of mammalian blood, the formation of acid in the lumen of the stomach, and to neutralize the pH of the chyme.
