Description

TAE Buffer, or Tris-Acetate-EDTA, is used for agarose gel electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE. It can be used both as a running buffer, and for gel preparation. TAE is recommended for DNA and RNA fragments larger than 1500 bp, including supercoiled DNA.

TAE Buffer 50X is made using only Molecular Biology Grade raw materials and the the pH range is between 8.3 to 8.5. The 50X concentration may be diluted as needed with distilled water. A 1X working concentration contains 40mM Tris, 20mM Acetate, and 1mM EDTA. For best results, replace the buffer during prolonged electrophoresis.

For fragments smaller than 1500 bp, TBE Buffer is recommended. Check out our easy-to-use DNA Isolation Kits and loading dyes for gel electrophoresis.
