Various membrane receptors are glycoproteins with a variety of glycans attached as N and O linkages. In these glycans, galactose and GalNAc are very prominent. Several lectins have specificity to galactose and GalNAc, but this specificity varies and is context-driven. Glycomatix provides Gal and GalNAc-specific biotinylated lectin kits and Gal and GalNAc-specific Separopore® lectin kits, with each containing our major lectins that recognize specific GalNAc-Gal linkages.

The kit contains 4 affyPure™ lectins that recognize common linkages including: T-antigen disaccharide Galβ1,3GalNAc (AIA), Galβ3GalNAc (PNA), GalNAc-α1,3-Gal (SBA), α-D-galactosyl residues and terminal N-acetyl-α-D-galactosaminyl residues (GSL I). These 4 affyPure™ lectins were conjugated with biotin to develop tools which can be detected using our fluorophores, HRP/AP -linked Avidin and Streptavidin reagents. HRP and AP can be used with chromogenic or chemiluminescent substrates for ELISA or Western blot assays. This kit allows to narrow down the nature of glycans that are accessible in your target and assist in determination of possible structure of the glycoprotein of interest.
