Description

MOPS also known as Propane Sultone buffer is one of the original Good's buffers. MOPS buffer is prepared by adding NaOH to the free acid solution and is a structural analog to MES. MOPS is frequently used as a buffering agent in biology and biochemistry, widely for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The pKa of MOPS is 7.01 which makes it ideal for solution stabilzation for medias and protein based buffer formulations. MOPS based buffers are used in purification bioprocesses of antibodies, peptides, proteins and blood components. MOPS buffer is partly degraded on autoclaving in the presence of glucose and has negligible metal ion binding properties. Usage above 20 mM in mammalian cell culture work is not recommended. Prepared in DI water and filtered through 0.22micro filter. Shipped at room temperature, store at 2-8 C.
