Description

EGTA, or Ethyleneglycol bis (2-Aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N',N' tetraacetic acid, is one of the most indispensable reagents in microbiology. It acts as a metal chelating agent, specifically for Calcium ions, making it a popular choice over EDTA for cell culture. EGTA is also commonly used as an ingredient in eluting buffers.

EGTA Molecular Biology Grade is of >99% purity and tested for the presence of heavy metals. It is generally used at less than 10mM concentration in most microbiology applications. For use as an anticoagulant, use 1% w/v in blood.
