Description

Proteinase K is a highly active protease isolated from Tritirachium album. It exhibits broad specificity and is effective at removing chromatin-bound proteins. Proteinase K is a popular choice for inactivating DNase and RNase in DNA/RNA isolation.

High purity Proteinase K has an optimal pH of 8.0 but is still extremely stable between pH 4-12. It has an activity of >30 U/mg, which may be increased in the presence of EDTA, SDS, and Guanidine hydrochloride. For best results, increase temperatures to 50-60°C, but not above 65°C.

Proteinase K is available in a 10 mg/mL or 20 mg/mL solution for direct use in DNA isolation.
