Description

200 mM AMPD (2-amino-2methyl-1,3-propanedioil), pH 8.5 +/- 0.1. Prepared in DI water and filtered through 0.22 micron filter. Shipped and stored at RT.

AMPD, also known as 2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol or Ammediol, is a reaction buffer for enzymes with an activity in the basic pH range and in isotachophoresis of proteins. It is known as Goods buffer. AMPD is a component in SDS-gradient gel electrophoresis system separating polypeptides in the molecular weight range of 1500 to 100,000. This AMPD buffer's pH is adjusted with NaOH or HCl, taking care not to cross the desired pH and then backtracking since this may result in altering the salt concentration.
