Description

CHES, also known as 2-(Cyclohexylamino)ethanesulfonic acid, falls under the category of Good's buffers as one of the original ones made. CHES is a zwitterionic N-substituted aminosulfonic acid which makes it useful for studying pH-dependent processes in enzymology. CHES is known to have a high affinity for the iodoacetate binding site of liver alcohol dehydrogenase. Its pKa makes it high suitable for biological applications that require pH control above physiological. CHES is water soluble, non-toxic, and high resolution for solutions.
