M17 Broth Base

• For the isolation and cultivation of lactic streptococci
• Does not contain β-glycerophosphate or lactose
• pH: 7.0
• Dehydrated Appearance: beige to medium tan, homogeneous powder
• Prepared Appearance: medium amber broth

Contains (per liter):

• Tryptone: 2.5g
• Enzymtic digest of Animal tissue: 2.5g
• Soy peptone: 5.0g
• Beef extract: 5.0g
• Yeast Extract: 2.5g
• Ascorbic Acid: 0.5g
• Magnesium Sulfate. 7H₂O: 0.25g

Direction to Use: Dissolve 19.0 grams of disodium β-glycerophosphate to 18.25 grams of medium per 950ml of purified water. Autoclave to sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes, cool to room temperature. Add 50ml of 10% Lactose solution aseptically and mix well before use.
