Description

Artocarpus integrifolia Lectin (AIA) is purified by affinity chromatography and consists of a tetrameric two-chain structure with four identical protomers and an isoelectric point of pH 7.8. The lectin specifically interacts with blood group types O (+SA) and T. Jacalin is classified as a galactose-specific lectin and elutes with galactose or melibiose. A post-translational proteolytic modification of Jacalin introduces a novel carbohydrate-binding site involving the N terminus of the α-chain, contributing to its specificity for the T-antigen disaccharide Galβ1,3GalNAc. Potent inhibitors of jacalin include D-galactose, β-Met-Gal, and 2-deoxy-α-D-galactose.

 AIA is labeled with tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanate (TRITC), providing optimal staining characteristics for this lectin. TRITC is a bright orange or red-fluorescent dye, ideally excited at the 532-nm laser line, and is suitable for cellular imaging applications. This product is available in a stabilized liquid form.

Recommended Usage: Recommended dilutions of 0.5 - 10 µg / ml in 1XPBS. Less than 0.5 ug /ml will agglutinate neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes.

Storage Instruction: To prevent degradation and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aliquot your product into small, single-use volumes and store them at -20°C
