Description

Sambucus nigra Lectin (SNA/EBL I) is an isolectin, isolated from elderberry bark and purified via affinity chromatography. As a type 2 ribosome-inactivating protein, it consists of an A-chain with enzymatic activity and a B-chain with carbohydrate-binding activity. SNA I specifically targets α2,6-linked sialic acid residues and elutes with lactose. At low concentrations, it can induce apoptosis through a caspase-dependent pathway, an effect that relies on the carbohydrate binding of the B-chain and is independent of the A-chain's catalytic activity. SNA I inhibit cell free protein synthesis.

Sambucus nigra Lectin conjugated with Alexa Fluor™ 594 is a bright red fluorescent dye used for stable signal generation in imaging and flow cytometry. These conjugate features optimal excitation for effective detection and is water soluble and pH-insensitive from pH 4 to pH 10. Alexa Fluor™ 594 offers superior brightness and photostability, making it an ideal choice for a variety of cellular labeling and detection applications.

Recommended usage: Recommended dilutions of 0.5 – 10 μg/ml in 1XPBS pH 7.4. To prevent degradation and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aliquot your product into small, single-use volumes and store them at -200C.
