Lactobacillus MRS Agar

Lactobacillus MRS Agar is used for the cultivation of Lactobacillus species from oral, fecal, and other sources. The presence of Sodium Acetate is highly effective in eliminating undesirable strains of bacteria, leaving only Lactobacillus colonies. This medium is specially formulated with only high quality components of cell culture grade.

To prepare Lactobacillus MRS Agar, dissolve 69.1 g in 1 L of distilled water at 100°C. Once fully dissolved, add 1 mL of Tween 80 (included) and autoclave. For the same high quality formulation without agar, Lactobacillus MRS Broth is available for purchase. This medium may be supplemented as desired with any of our Biotechnology Grade chemicals, including L-Cysteine.
