Description

Alkaline Phosphatase, also known as AP, is a dimeric protein often purified from bovine intestine. It has a Zinc ion tightly bound to each subunit and is catalyzed by Magnesium. During plasmid DNA cloning, Alkaline phosphatase can prevent self-ligation. bioWORLD has developed a highly advanced method for chemiluminescent staining in ELISA using AP.

This phosphotransferase has an activity of more than 1 KU/mg. One unit of activity is the amount of enzyme which liberates one micromole of p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl-phosphate per minute at 37°C, pH 9.8 in diethanolamine buffer. It is provided in a solution of NaCl and TEA buffer.
