NFDM (Non-Fat Dry Milk Powder) / Skim Milk Powder

Non-Fat Dry Milk Powder, also known as Skim Milk Powder or NFDM, is a common component of cell culture media. It may be used as a complete medium for bacteria present in milk products, or as a casein and lactose source in other media. NFDM is a popular blocking reagent in Western blotting.

Non-Fat Dry Milk Powder at a 10% concentration in water is equivalent to commercial skim milk. NFDM is of Biotechnology Grade and may be used to perform litmus milk tests for lactose fermenting selection of bacteria.

For Western blotting, Skim Milk Powder containing Sodium Azide and Ampicillin to prevent microbial growth is recommended.
