YEB Agrobacterium Growth Medium

YEB Agrobacterium Growth Medium is specially formulated to encourage Agrobacterium culture for gene transformation in plants. Successful transformation results in tumor or root hair growth for the plant, but can be manipulated to introduce genes of interest into the plant much faster than traditional plant reproduction methods.

High quality YEB Agrobacterium Growth Medium contains Beef Extract, Bacto Peptone, Yeast Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, and Sucrose. Dissolve 16.3 g/L of medium in distilled water while gently heating until fully dissolved. Bacteriological Agar may be added at 15 g/L before autoclaving.

Agrobacterium grown on YEB can then be used to infect protoplasts or whole plants using the floral dip method or plant tissue culture. Often, antibiotics are needed to isolate transformed cells.
