Synonyms

Ras-related protein Rab-2A, RAB2A, RAB2.

Ras-related protein Rab-2A (RAB2A)is a member of the small GTPase superfamily. RAB protein family members are nontransforming monomeric GTP-binding proteins of the Ras superfamily, which contain four highly conserved regions involved in GTP binding and hydrolysis. In addition, RAB proteins are a fundamental part of endocytic pathways. RAB2A and RAB2B are essential for protein transport from the ER to the Golgi; RAB2A is lipid-anchored to the ER-Golgi intermediate compartment membrane whereas RAB2B is lipid anchored to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane. RAB2A also interacts with GOLGA2.

Description

RAB2A produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 236 amino acids (1-212 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 26.1kDa. RAB2A is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
