It can be used as a reducing agent of metal salts of low activity like gold and silver, used as a contrast medium, and used as a hematinic. Used in Kligler iron deeps to determine hydrogen sulfide production in microbial metabolism. Store in a tightly closed container, away from moisture and direct sunlight to maintain stability.
