Description

Calcofluor White Stain, 5mM in water is a fluorescent blue compound that binds to cellulose, present in the cell walls of algae, fungi, and plants. In budding yeast, Calcofluor White stains bud scars very strongly, because they contain Chitin. Calcofluor White also stains gram-positive bacteria, but not gram-negative bacteria.
