Description

Hygromycin B is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that kills bacteria, fungi, and higher eukaryotic cells. It functions by stabilizing the tRNA-ribosomal acceptor site which inhibits translation and therefore prevents protein synthesis. Hygromycin B is often used for selection of transformants for gene transfer experimentation.

Hygromycin B is of Ultra Pure grade and has a potency of >1000 U/mg . It is often used at a 50-200 µg/mL concentration in cell culture research. Hygromycin is soluble in aqueous solutions up to 50 mg/mL, and should be sterile-filtered to avoid contamination.

For direct use in cell culture, bioWORLD offers high quality sterile solutions of Hygromycin B in 50 mg/mL and 100 mg/mL concentrations. BSA and KLH conjugated to Hygromycin can be used to identify Hygromycin B-specific antibodies using ELISA. Our Murashige and Skoog Agar Plates contain Hygromycin B for easy-to-use of Hygromycin resistant strains.

bioWORLD's products are supplied for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as a drug, agricultural or pesticidal product, food additive or as a household chemical.
