Description

Tween 80, or Polysorbate 80, is a non-denaturing surfactant used in washing and blocking buffers for ELISA and Western Blotting. Because it is a gentle detergent, Tween 80 can solubliize cell membranes without affecting protein activity. Tween 80 contains oleic acid, in comparison to similar product Tween 20, which contains lauric acid.

Biotechnology Grade Polysorbate 80 may be used in just about any recipe where Tween 20 would be used. Autoclaving solutions with Tween 80 is not recommended.

bioWORLD's products are supplied for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as a drug, agricultural or pesticidal product, food additive or as a household chemical.
