M63 Medium 5X, pH 7.0, Sterile

M63 Medium is a minimal medium used for the cultivation and propagation of E.coli. It does not include sugar, vitamins, or magnesium. M63 only provides the most basic salts and trace metals necessary for growth, allowing for customization by the end user of Carbon and Magnesium sources.

For use in cell culture, dilute 200 mL of M63 Medium 5X in 800 mL of sterile distilled water. Many choose to supplement M63 Medium with Glycerol and Magnesium Sulfate. A number of M63 Agar Plates with different antibiotics are available if you are looking for a ready-to-use option.
