Potato Dextrose Broth

Potato Dextrose Broth is especially formulated for the culture of yeasts and molds. Potato Infusion provides vital nutrients while Dextrose acts as a sugar source for rapid growth and proliferation. Potato Dextrose Broth has been shown to encourage sporulation.

Antibiotics and organic acids may be added to the broth as desired to prevent bacterial growth. A pH of 3.5 is recommended for best results, taking care not to heat the medium if both acids and agar are present. Potato Dextrose Broth is also available as Potato Dextrose Agar for the preparation of cell culture plates.
