Murashige and Skoog (MS) Medium, Macronutrients Only

Murashige and Skoog (MS) Medium was developed to enhance plant growth in laboratory tissue culture. The macronutrients included in the formulation are Calcium chloride, Ammonium nitrate, Magnesium sulfate, Potassium nitrate, and Potassium phosphate. The advantage of purchasing the Murashige and Skoog macronutrients without micronutrients is that the salt concentration may be reduced for saline-sensitive plant species.

For a full 1X concentration, MS Macronutrients can be added to liquid medium at 4.23 g/L. A 0.5X concentration is ideal for many plants and can be achieved by dissolving 2.12 g/L of Murashige and Skoog Medium, Macronutrients Only in distilled water.
